No new movie this week. We're not particularly enthused by what's currently in theaters, which lead us to discuss our feelings about this year's Academy Awards. We decided to focus episode 76 on the loss of Alan Rickman and we chose 5 movies that star the ever-charming (and sometimes diabolical) British actor. Enjoy!
THEME MOVIES Die Hard - He's the title character. Truly Madly Deeply - Unfortunately, the Savage Garden song won't come out for another 6 years. Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - Not the title character, but he certainly steals the show. Galaxy Quest - "By Grabthar's hammer, you shall be avenged." The Search for John Gissing - Once again, the title character. Grab the tissues this week, folks! In episode 75, we discuss movies where characters deal with cancer. These are some cathartic favorites for Hannah. As always, we kick things off with a movie currently in theaters (that is not much more joyful than those in the theme but may prepare you for oscar season). Enjoy!
IN THEATERS Concussion - My brain bruises like a peach. THEME MOVIES Stepmom - Life is hard for kids. And adults. And everyone. A Little Bit of Heaven - Maybe cheesier than the others but small and beautiful (and I'm not just talking about Gael Garcia Bernal). 50/50 - Grittier than the others, in a good way. The Fault in Our Stars - Kinda wish this came out when we were 15.
